PROGRAM FOR
SEPTEMBER – OCTOBER 2010
|
|
New!
Musical Monday:
Led by an accomplished musician, this group will sing some well-known and
less familiar songs together and then talk about them. The melody and the
rhythm of music help to speak more easily and freely in English, and singing
together is good fun and healthy for body and soul. The group will meet
upstairs at Café Traxlmayr (Promenade 16, Linz) on October 4th
and 18th from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Please call or send an email
if you`re interested in more information by October 1st.
Der Grüne Tisch:
A Fulbright Teaching Assistant who has a
degree in International Relations and a graduate of Johannes Kepler
University with a degree in International Management will talk with members
about current events in international affairs and how they are presented in
the Austrian and American media. This group will meet on October 5th
and 19th from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Café Traxlmayr.
Kindly call or send an email to make your reservation by October 1st.
Conversation at the Café Cubus:
This conversation group is back by popular demand! The participants will
choose the topics that they want to talk about, and a Fulbright Teaching
Assistant from the U.S. will lead and guide them in discussions. It will
begin again at the Ars Electronic Center on October 6th from 6:30
– 8:00 p.m. and will meet ten times. There is a limited number of seats.
Please give us a call or send an email to reserve yours by October 1st.
Thursday at the Spitz:
Many of our long-standing members meet informally to chat in English about
all sorts of topics at the Hotel Spitz in Urfahr (Fiedlerstr. 6) on Thursday
mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (except Austrian holidays). Anyone
that has time is of course welcome to drop by for a chat.

Halloween
Movie
Night |
Thursday, October 28th, 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. |
With just a few days to go before All Hallows` Eve,
there`s a lot of stressing out about costumes and shopping for treats. Why
not also get into the spirit of Halloween by getting together and watching
an appropriately scary movie? There are so many great hair-raising
classics in this genre to choose from. Help us pick one of them by
sending an email with your three favorite titles. If we screen one
from your list, you`ll win a surprising prize on Movie Night. What will it
be? “The Excorcist” or “Halloween” (1978), “The Howling” or maybe “The
Legend of Sleepy Hallow” (2000)? The movie will be shown at the Alte
Welt, Hauptplatz 4, Linz, way down in the cellar...if you dare. Snacks
and drinks will be served.
Too scary to miss. Boo!
